....Trevor Mallard is unfortunately my MP so I take an especial interest in his blog.
Average and Median Weekly Household Income(1)
June 2008 quarter
Total "Median:
all sources collected"
1,271
The above figures are copied from the NZ Income Survey
Now check out Trevor's Blog.
He has the figure at $1,371 and writes about National, "After just three years, they’ve managed to slice $82 a week off the income of the typical household."
The graph should clearly indicate that the data has been adjusted.

Another dishonest post by TM....but hope is around the corner....I am certain that his ungraceful reign over your electorate is about to come to a swift and ungraceful end!
I wonder what his justification for his figures is?
Funny how he never answers the question 'what would Labour have done differently to generate a better result for the country.
The underlying problem behind all of Trevor's graphs is that they compare economic data from 2008, at the front end of a recession caused by a combination of global economics and Labour mismanagement, with data this year, at the far end of the same recession. This is either fundamentally dishonest or reveals a frightening lack of economic knowledge. Only a liar or an idiot could possibly image that economic indicators at the end of a recession would be anything but worse than the beginning of it. This would clearly be the case whether National or Labour were at the helm.
The real question should be how much better or worse would things have been under Labour? Just totting up Labour's proposed policies, we would be between 6 and 8 billion deeper in the hole ( there is uncertainty created by the possibility of increased taxes and the likelihood of increased spending unrelated to current policies - such as greater expenditure on health or welfare). There is little doubt in my mind that Moody's would have joined S&P in downgrading us today, if Labour had been running things these past 3 years.
