New work

Here's a recent effort. I saw this photo of the late Syd Jackson, or I should say, the black and white version used in the Dominion Post obituary. I discovered the internet version more latterly. It was one of those instances when I felt compelled to paint an image. Now I just need to find the right home for him.

I like it.

Why did you change what Syd was
thinking about?

Are you referring to the original post title David? I changed it because I thought it was obscure and open to misinterpretation. Not much of an artist am I given that is typically their aim:-)

No Lindsay, I was refering to your work.
The photo caught an image of a confident Syd looking secure.

What you created is admittedly larger and in better lighting but shows a person that shares some of the insecurity that we all try to protect.

Yes good..

That's interesting. People have commented about other works, that I create a more sympathetic image than the one I am working from. It is unintentional. Perhaps I overlay whatever connection I have made with the subject although in this case I have never met Syd Jackson.
