Must be my Irish ancestry, with a great granddad officially described a "scavenger" who left Ireland to chance his arm not in the US, but Liverpool.
This song has everything I love; drinking, gambling, dreams, risk, failure, and utter poignancy....

That has become a modern day classic , Lindsay.
But what is the worst Christmas song?
I would say Jingle Bell rock and the one with some women who seem to rap and chatter along and go 'Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas.!"
Truly inane and revolting.
Best xmas song bar none.
I dont deny gingerbread can send my senses zinging but trifle is my prefered indulgence on days of importance.
I have always been a fan of the Pogues singing Waltzing Matilda.
I know it aint a Christmas song but as a one legged man it always sends my spirits soaring.
Dirk.
