Minister of Social Development

Is Key about to put a one-term MP, who has not even held the portfolio, associate or otherwise, in charge of the single biggest government department and spending ticket?

You would have been good in the portfolio, Lindsay, even without previous parliamentary experience.
ACT did the country a disservice by not having you as high as fourth on their list. (Or third in my opinion.)

Oh, you're referring to Paula Bennett. I thought you were talking about Steven Joyce, National Man of Mystery.

Yes, Lindsay would have been superb in the role. It wouldn't have been long before it was anything but the single biggest government department and spending ticket.

But Paula Bennett is anything but Lindsay Mitchell. Unlike Lindsay, she's never done nor shown any sign of doing anything of consequence.

Which means, in a Key Government, she's fully qualified for the job.

It is shocking someone with such relative parliamentary experience should have any position of responsibility in the Executive. It would be as outrageous as contemplating a major party pushing a two-term MP, with no prior Executive or public service experience into the role of Leader of a Political Party and Prime Minister of this great nation. Luckily, we clearly live in a country where no party would be so dumb or cynical to try such a wantonly reckless move.
