The DomPost reports this morning about the likely contenders for Wellington Central.
Hekia Parata, who stood for National in the seat in 2002, and former ACT MP Stephen Franks are also believed to be in the running to represent National in the high profile electorate.

Gee, I said he was a National type back when he was in Act. He was never a liberal and was trying to drag Act in a conservative direction. This is no surprise.
Yeah, this has been in the works for a while. He was at the Nats' conference earlier this month. It was weird because I thought he lived in Wellington but his name badge (when you register you have to register with an electorate that then shows up on your name badge) said Epsom.
Wgtn central is shaping up to be quite the race in terms of nominations. It's likely that Parata, Franks and Chris F will be running and potentially more. It's really a race between Chris and Parata but Franks has a pretty good chance of getting on the list. On the Labour side, Charles Chauvel and one of H2's ex-myrmidons are going to be duking out and I understand one of the smaller parties also has something special in the works. This bunch looks far more promising than the Hobbs-Blumsky race we had in 05.
Good luck to Stephen. I do hope he beats the Labourites in Wellington Central.
He was an effective MP and will be good to see him representing us in the House again.
Stephen Franks would be a great option for National - he is well known and liked. Regardless of who gets the nomination for National they will be getting my vote.
This is another seat that labour will lose come the 2008 election.
