This just arrived in my in-box;
I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay cheque, as I work in heavy industry , I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem (in passing) .
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque because I have to pass one to earn it for them??
Please understand – I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.
I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their arse drinking piss & smoking dope all day .
Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a DPB cheque?????
Please pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.
Hope you all will pass it along though, because something has to change in this country, and soon!

Not a bad idea!
Like many simple ones, it could actually work!
Lindsay, just wanted to get in touch with you but don't know your email address. Can you email me at chaucey, paradise.net.nz please?
You should have deleted this one, Lindsay!
Your correspondent works in heavy industry and has to pass random urine tests because, and only because, she works in heavy industry.
Those on state welfare do not work in heavy industry and so shouldn't have to pass random urine tests because they work in heavy industry, since they don't.
Welfare payments, like wages, should be contingent only on the recipient doing what they are paid to do.
What welfare beneficiaries are paid to do isn't clear to me, but it's certainly not what your correspondent is proposing.
Dicky above needs a urine test himself methinks.
This post is brilliant it made my day.
Beneficiary payments should be contingent on exemplary social behaviour, drug tests, no xrime, looking for work in unemployed, passing milestones like good child behaviour at school, ....
It must happen!!!!

and jumping through hoops, don't forget jumping through hoops.
Richard, I realise I took a risk posting it because that action confers agreement. Actually I don't agree. But I sympathise with the anger.
In fact I have posted before about urine testing and suggested if it was mandatory in all jobs we would run out of workers.http://lindsaymitchell.blogspot.com/2007/06/theyre-

Yes, I didn't think you actually agreed. Nor do I mean to imply that you are right-wing in my post on trained circus seals.
i totally agree drug testing should be a stipulation for getting help from welfare i was working till 2 months ago and applied for a lil help my wife only brings in about 1000 a month they offered me $54 in food stamps i have 2 kids and im looking for work they cant help me anymore than that because of all these people that live on welfare how can a person just sit on there ass all there lives and rely on someone else to pay there bills it makes no sence to me. i never had a free ride in my life now i ask for a lil help and there is no help for me after all the money i have paid in to the system give them all drug tests including me and i bet they be able to help me then
