That third will be 100% of actual property owners, of independent adults with independent means, in other words, of the whole who build the country and who pay for everything else.
When NZ returns to a democracy that is fair to those of us who pay the damn bills - then that vote will be recognised as 100% and all the so-called "assets" --- they're all really liabilities --- will be got rid of as soon as possible
Under the Constitution Act 1852 adult males qualified who owned a freehold property worth £50 for six months or more, leased property of annual value £10 for three years, or occupied a household of annual value £10 in town or £5 in the country where they had resided for at least six months.
These days, those figures would be:
Males who owned a property worth $5,000,000 or more; Leased property with $1,000,000 or more,
occupied a household of annual value $1,000,000 in town or $500,000 in the country.
Elections results would be very, very different until the laws by which NZ was actually founded. We would have three parties in parliament: National, ACT, and Conservatives.
And the success of this referendum would be 100%.
Keep dreaming, anonymous. The socialistic mindset is far too much entrenched in the NZ psyche that, unfortunately, your suggestion will never happen.
