How far should liability extend?

Just one question this morning.

If scientists are legally liable for incorrectly assessing risk resulting in death, what about bail judges and parole board members?

As usual the media have over-simplified/misrepresented the verdict in this case. It wasn't that the scientists didn't predict the earthquake, it was that they failed to properly assess and convey seismic risk prior to the event....a subtle but very important distinction which is either too complex for the MSM or doesn't make such good copy. Shakey, But I was careful to describe the crime of the scientists as incorrectly assessing the risk.
