Hostels for single mums
The Welfare State We're In discusses a recommendation from UK Labour MP David Blunkett (ex Minister for Work and Pensions) that young single mothers should go into hostels instead of being provided a council house or flat.

An excelent idea. That way they would receive mutual support from other mothers, probabaly advice and counselling as well, and, most importantly, their boyfriends won't be allowed to move in with them and abuse their children.
