"Scheme to spot crims at birth"
There seems to be a refusal to join the dots going on but at least people are talking about where criminals come from and admitting it isn't difficult to predict who will offend. I think that's as much as I will say about this item.
I'd strongly oppose the formation of a register of children thought to be at risk of becoming an offender. This would offend the most basic civil liberties enjoyed in a modern democracy.
Orwellian" is a bit of an overused word, but it's certainly apt in this case. More State control, more State interference in citizen's lives. The more people are reliant on the State for handouts, the more of their freedom they forfeit. But do Kiwis even care any more?
