"Brash speech shows he's worried, says Clark"

"Brash speech shows he's worried, says Clark"

Well of course he's bloody worried. So am I, as we edge further towards becoming a Scandinavian-like state with a layer of separatism thrown in; as we fall behind not just Australia but other up-and-coming nations with more daring and vision than we collectively possess; as we fail to attract highly skilled migrants or get used as a stepping stone to Australia; as we refuse to face a growing ill-educated, ambitionless underclass fuelled by welfare. Hell's bells Helen. So should you be.

Countries ranking by GDP (purchasing power parity) 2005 est. I was how Australia is ranked compared to NZ.

18 Australia
39 Vietnam
46 Czech Republic
58 Singapore
59 New Zealand

I'm not sure exactly how important GDP figures are in showing the relative wealth of a country, but if it is any indicator then Australia is making NZ look poor.

sorry, I meant to say I was surprised how high Australia is ranked compared to NZ.

Why would Clark be worried? A communist state controlled by the elite ruling class with subservient working class appears to be her utopia.

Just a pity she won't move to China but insists on bringing it here.

Well, yes, Brash should be worried about a nation where the Government of the day regards any dissent from their orthodoxy (let alone any kind of policy debate) as "unpatriotic".

What should really terrify the spin-obsessed Clark is the clear message sent by the latest One/Colmar Brunton and Three/TNS polls: Labour's scare-and-smear 'Yanks under the Tory bed, Don Brash eats babies' strategy is truly the failed policy of the past. And while I don't want to offer Labour free strategic advice, it would be nice if Clark and Cullen could dial back the condescending arrogance a notch.

Generally, the more lower paid, under-educated, welfare dependent people a socialist Government can cultivate, the more secure their own future as a governing party.

It's truly sickening that for a Labour party to remain in power, it can LEAST afford to turn its citizens into self sufficient, successful and happy people.

Sickening.

If we're "falling behind" Australia it's not the current Government's fault.

Besides, falling behind in which regards? When was the last out and out hatred riot here in New Zealand? Surely that's real progress.

No it's not. It's a perfect illustration of just how apathetic Kiwis have become. The Cronulla riots were a response to the behaviour of an ethnic group who were behaving like thugs and a State government which had effectively tied the hands of the police.
Kiwi voters have demonstrated yet again recently that they don't give a stuff about corruption, a police force that's more interested in raising revenue from speeding motorists than it is in fighting crime, a prime minister who lies and ministers who cheat and lie with impunity..
If that's "progress" I'd hate to see what a banana republic looks like.
