Children's Commissioner draws a picture of what he wants

I'd have substituted pigs for buzzy bees.

Literally: 'The best way to help Maori is to put them on a benefit'

Oh, I'm posting this! Mental as anything.

On further reflection, Andrew Becroft and his State agency probably don’t just mean Maoris at all. They live in ‘Aotearoa’ not New Zealand, and speak Politically Correct rather than English. So, by ‘tamariki’ and ‘whanau’ they may probably mean ‘children’ and ‘family’.

I might (reluctantly) accept the use of whanau if it is understood to have a meaning that is wider than might be implied by family. But that doesn't excuse gratuitous substitution of random English words by Maori words. This helps the understanding of the sentence by neither language speaker. As for the flags side by side. Words fail me. Where do they find these people?

The horror is, the vested interest in not solving child poverty. The incentive is to NOT solve anything, but extend problems forever. Its an incentive problem. If child poverty went away they would be out of a job.

We could probably say, that if child poverty dropped by half, your pay will double. Get the incentives right.

Whoever modeled the beehive off Brughel's Tower of Babel, nailed it.
