Quote of the Day

This sentence leapt out at me from a piece entitled, "Don't be a sucker for socialism" by Glenn Reynolds:

Under capitalism, rich people become powerful. But under socialism, powerful people become rich.

In reality, the power that rich people have in a free society is only the power to influence people. In contrast, the power that politicians have is ultimately the power to kill people. To equate the two powers, as socialists do, is mendacious.

And the fate of those powerful people's nations?

They become dirt poor like Cuba, or disappear like the Soviet Union or embrace Capitalism and become comparatively wealthy like Chile.

However, even more become economic and lawless basket cases. like Venezuela.

You'd think with all these examples socialism would be considered an end state disease but of course its that dream of become one of the elite powerful...

In Capitalism people get what they deserve.

In Communism, the most deserving get shot.

Anonymous, what a fantastic comment. I wholeheartedly agree with that. I just cannot understand how on earth so called intelligent people can continue to extol the virtues and benefits of Socialism when all they have to do is look at history and see the massive misery and destruction that this type of Governance has caused when enacted. Venezuela and Cuba are classic examples.

Socialism can never kill capitalism.
