Trotter vs Whyte

Yesterday Chris Trotter responded to a NZ Herald opinion piece by Jamie Whyte.

The post was moving down the Daily Blog list but as Whyte has replied, it is now featuring back at the top.

Worth a read.

Don't know about this Jamie Whyte business but I do know Act made promises that they would deliver on 'A Man's House Is His Castle Laws'

Gee, a party with one MP and 1% of the vote hasn't enacted its policies into legislation yet? It's inexplicable! Have you formulated any theories on what might account for this failure?

I thought Jamie's analysis was very insightful. As usual.

Chris's comment did not address the subject at all – either he missed what Jamie was saying or he didn’t want to acknowledge the similarity between terrorism and the left. The left do seem to want to hug islamists. Instead he concentrated on the argument about individualism vs the state. But then I am at a loss to know how an argument for individual responsibility would elicit such abuse anyway. Its not the NZ I grew up in.

What does Jamie / Act represent that elicits such vileness? It is not just what Jamie says – from someone else I am sure most of what he said would be treated as unexceptional. He clearly represents a threat to something. People who ascribe selfish motives to others reveal their own motivations.

When you hate the people who are probably the most honest politicians in New Zealand for their dishonesty to the point of swearing about it your life must be incredibly depressing. I feel for you Jamie.
