A justified use of the word 'misogyny'

Generally I find accusations of 'misogynism'  paranoid, over-reactions.

So when I read this recent  release I went looking:

Keep misogynist messages off our roads

Human Rights Commission urges Kiwis to help keep misogynist messages off our roads

EEO Commissioner Dr Jackie Blue hopes Kiwis will ensure an international rental van company keeps its offensive messages off New Zealand roads.
Wicked Campers Australia was recently forced to remove misogynist, offensive slogans off its vehicles after thousands of complaints.

Here are two of their slogans:

"In every princess, there's a little slut who wants to try it just once"

"A wife: an attachment you screw on the bed to get the housework done"

Bad taste, not funny.

Perhaps boycotting their producs might be the answer?

What self respecting women would rent a van from that company?

Surely a boycott and public shaming is preferable to a legislative approach?

Unfortunately a by-product of the freedom of speech. If you believe in the principle then you gotta take the good with the bad, tragic and poor taste.

Where did I say I favoured restricting freedom of speech through legislation? My point was, unusually, I thought the use of the term misogyny was justified.

They have a bunch of cars that would be misandrogynistic too then, which aren't being reported on or complained about. That they aren't is far more of a slight to gender equality.

This company also have a myriad of pro drug, pro violence, and I believe I've seen pro abortion ones; and their most recent promotion I saw was basically 'Do you have a big penis, if so you can have a discount'. They aim to shock, and it works for them, and they only seem mysogynistic when viewed alone and out of context.

A 'public shaming' would merely be 'free advertising', because none of their target market (people who rent vans and campers who clearly don't have a family) would care.

Also, these messages are hilarious, especially when combined with their artwork. You're clearly all getting too old and sensitive! ;)

Its Australia and Australians; cousins they may be but they are not like us.

Also, these messages are hilarious...

The two quoted in the OP are as hilarious as a punch in the throat.
