I think it is foolish to engage in debate with Turiana Turia. She just does not say what she believes in, she says what she thinks will bring her goal of "Maori" sovereignty closer to becoming a reality.
She is IMHO a dishonest fascist and a racist, and although the sentiments you express in your letter to the paper are sound enough, they fall on deaf ears because Turia's own words are all completely false.
You are far too kind in your assessment of Turia and far too gullible in your approach to her. She is in my opinion a lying sneaking fraud who will not ever be honest about her real intent, and until we start dealing with this reality, we're not going to change anything.

Lindsay Mitchell has been researching and commenting on welfare since 2001.
