Containing local government
One of our councillors is trying to persuade his colleagues the council housing should be sold. It is making a substantial loss. The Hutt News ran a piece about the issue. Interestingly mine was the only response. (Click on the image to enlarge.)
Exactly Lindsay, the Local Government Act needs amending to make councils get out housing. It is remarkable though that Wellington City Council (hardly a city with much poverty) is the second biggest landlord in the country after the state.

Lindsay Mitchell has been researching and commenting on welfare since 2001. Many of her articles have been published in mainstream media and she has appeared on radio,tv and before select committees discussing issues relating to welfare.
