Press Release: New Zealand National Party
In recognition of International Women’s Day, National’s spokesperson for Women Nicola Grigg, has launched a survey looking into the wellbeing of women in the Selwyn electorate.
“We know that women have been disproportionately impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in terms of job losses, but what we don’t seem to have a full understanding of is the overarching psycho-social impact the lockdown and enduring stress has had on our wāhine.

"As so many women experienced during the lockdown, they suddenly became the cook, cleaner, carer, home-schooler, and general-provider all while often trying to juggle their own business or work commitments or, worse, dealing with the stress of sudden unemployment."
Well I had to pretty much solo-dad during all of the lv4 and 3 lockdowns, 3 so far in Auckland. My wife is a nurse, so was working through, meanwhile I had two early early primary aged kids to look after, and all of the above and more. Luckily enough my work is fairly flexible for the most part, so I could split it up as 2 hours in the morning (kids watching a movie), 2 hours in the afternoon (online-learning), and then after the kids were in bed a quick two hour nap, and work through the night as required, usually managing to get in a few more hours sleep before starting it all again at 7 the next morning.
Haven't heard of any "men's wellbeing" surveys from the National Spokesperson for Men. Oh, that's right, there isn't one.
Was looking at a photo of Nash winning the 1957 election and he's smiling. Holyoake was smiling too because what else could he do, mope for the camera?
This is like that. Labour has a Womans' portfolio so National must have one too. Nicola Grigg has a portfolio so she needs to do some kind of busy work to make it look more than token.
Finally, it's free campaign advertising for Grigg into homes and in the media.
Sum total: Token self-promotional junk comin' at ya.
It's always lovely to hear men's opinions on the plight of women.
It's not a zero-sum game.

quote slippery slope "It's always lovely to hear men's opinions on the plight of women."
Agreed!
If only they worked as an opposition around the gender self ID law, an actual woman's issue and super creepy given that the Minister of Women's Affairs is all for it.

Have recently watched an excellent Sonia Poulton interview with Dr Kate Coleman on BrandNewTube around men being able to self identify as women (no sex change required) which gets them placed in a female prison so it is on my mind atm.
