

My attention was immediately caught by the quote in the fourth paragraph. It is reasonably well-known that NZ's elderly are relatively well-off. So the quote he used surprised me and warranted further investigation. Here is what I found:

The welfare state is unsustainable economically, socially and morally.

His column must appear in all the District local papers, certainly the Kapiti Observer. I seldom read it as it is so left wing.
I think he has taken the top ten from the NBR richlist and compared it to the NZ stock exchange but most of the top ten have their holdings in overseas companies and pay little tax in NZ. Graham HART and Owen GLEN being but two.
