Sorry folks but I have turned on the moderation function. Fortunately I am never far away from the keyboard so when you comment it should appear fairly quickly.
Unfortunately my deep reluctance to curb freedom of speech is increasingly being interpreted as some sort of tacit approval of the quite absurd comments I leave up.

Just think of as the grease trap in your kitchen drain, Lindsay--inconvenient but necessary in order to keep the system clean. ;)
Isn't it weird how people that accuse you of something you haven't said, rely on the fact that you allow them to say it on your blog, thus refuting themselves by their comment being posted?
It's not so weird that others think freedom of speech is forcing you to provide a platform for it. Such people are confused.
Worst of all though are the people that are deliberately rude to the host and don't realise that with freedom comes responsibility, and if they can't exercise it responsibly, they leave themselves open to consequences.
Lindsay, this platform is yours. As such I'm a guest. If ever I excede the bounds of decencey, feel free to push the big DESTRUCT BUTTON and remove my ramblings....
I have my gin to console me...........
Dirk
There is no censorship involved if you properly define it. Censorship requires the use of force to prevent others from having their say, etc., with their own resources, or with resources that others make voluntarily available to them. This blog is your resource and you may make it available to others on whatever terms you deem proper.
Just as you can prevent someone from preaching in your living room you can prevent them from being vicious on your blog. Now, if you prevented them from having their say on their blog, that would be censorship.
Censorship is fundamentally an issue of property rights. So what you did is not censorship.
