Suggestions of radically reforming welfare are typically met with claims that crime will increase (like crime hasn't increased throughout the expansion of the welfare state?)
Now a study has revealed that individuals receiving welfare commit crimes anyway, usually after they have quickly exhausted the assistance received.
This is one of those 'if you didn't laugh' stories. The authors recommend that welfare payments get issued weekly instead of monthly "which will smooth patterns in crimes."

Overall there is a clear correlation between the amount of welfare money received and the amount of crime committed. If you add in the amount of state support and costs incurred of all types the correlation is absolute.
Here it was found that many disorder type offenses were committed on Dole Day- so they arranged that dole day was spread over the week.
I think the problem was that they all got our money at the same time, so they all got into the substance of their choice at the same time!
