"And I'm buggered if I know what the Nats stand for other than doing whatever Labour does but promising to do it better."
Good to see the gloves off.
Apparently Bill English thinks ACT are now irrelevant. There was discussion of this on Radio Live yesterday after an interview with English appeared in Investigate.
Under Don Brash and pushing ACT policies National did manage to make ACT irrelevant.
Under English ACT was relevant.
He can't now swan back onto the stage with the same centrist agenda and hope that ACT will stay irrelvant. Saying it will not make it so.

In a funny way, you've just confirmed that English is right. You have basically restated the premise that ACT is reliant on National's positioning on policy in order to be relevant to the voter.
In other words, there's not much ACT can do of its own accord to meet voters expectations and be relevant to the public. It's simply a feather in the wind, waiting for a gust to blow it to greater heights, rather than actually trying to win support on its own merits.
Certainly, the things that its leader has been doing over the last year have been utterly irrelevant to the best prospects for ACT potential voters.
"there's not much ACT can do of its own accord to meet voters expectations and be relevant to the public."
There is, now National has moved into Labour's neighbourhood. Your problem (assuming you are a National supproter)is going to be holding that increased margin you attained under Brash with his ACT-like policies.
Chuck,
With Parliament on hiatus, things may be taking a little longer to get done.
Try emailing Gavin (who is now back from holiday) in the Parliamentary Unit
gavin.middleton(at)parliament.govt.nz
Chuck,
Gavin is Communications Manager in our Wellington Office. He also does quite a bit of policy work etc.
He can probably help with any query you may have.
Alternatively, send what you have to me and I can forward it onto Rodney.
Cheers,
Andrew
