He broke the law. He knew he was breaking the lay. He was given a chance to fix things. He did nothing.
He got caught, now he is being punished.
What is so shocking about that?

Oh, the hallowed law.
The Judge said it was a sad case of a man who had led a "responsible and good life".
Give me people who lead good and responsible lives any day over those who blindly obey asinine laws.
