This blog intends to debunk the myths surrounding the welfare state. The government is not caring and compassionate. It cannot replace families and community. The welfare state is unsustainable economically, socially and morally.

**Excellent stuff**, and it's about time!
I'm still not convinced that our own government's policy is anywhere near strong enough in this area.
Thor 42, "Our government's policy" is to work test the parent when a child added to a benefit reaches 1 year-old (if the older siblings are school age). I agree, it's not strong enough.
Time-limiting welfare availability over a lifetime is clear and simple (with capped exemptions for outliers).
