Blog stats make no sense

Blog stats are not my priority. I don't monetize. But I would like to understand why the anomaly between Blogger Stats and Sitemeter data.

This is what Sitemeter tells me about August:

Blogger though tells me something totally different:

Averaging over a thousand page views a day mostly from the United States.

Can anyone explain this to a naive blogger?

Since I stopped blogging last December my reads have been trending up on Blogger stats; just about all reads out of US.

Must be some sort of spam 'thingy' I think.

Web crawler captured in one method but not in the other? Bots shouldn't be in either but you never know.

Do you have details on what pages are popular?

Yes. Top post was "Yadiyadiyada" August 6 with just two comments but 1600 views (apparently).

In NZ you are number 6 for that term, in the US number 4. So that explains why that post is popular. No clue why people are searching for that term though!!!
