The government thinks it can get money out of a DPB recipient's partner if she (usually) is done for fraudulently claiming a single parent benefit.
Just demanding it back from the recipient causes a "gender imbalance" apparently. Paying homage at the equal rights altar now.
Like they get money for unpaid fines and money for child support debt......
And if he has to pay on the principle that he 'benefited' from the fraud, what about a live-in parent or the landlord?
As I said, good luck with that.

The aim seems to be to catch male partners who are living with the solo parent on the DPB, and make the male partner pay where it has been assessed that the presence of the male is fraud. There are I understand unofficial rules about partners, they can stay the night up to 50% of nights and the women's DPB is not affected. The WINZ official rules state the tests are emotional and financial independence, which can mean anything the bureaucrats want. Shagging for fun is OK and wont affect your DPB.

After a discussion at work today most were in favour as all knew people playing that game. Way to go. Scare the shit out them as often times they encourage it and certainly share the spoils as well as the bed.
