Sycophantic babble

Whoever wrote today's DomPost editorial (a homage to John Key) is illogical. He or she criticises the government's plans to "clamp down" on third party advertising as "undesirable". This is straight after praising National for promising to support such legislation, "to be part of the solution rather than just a critic in the wilderness." (The writer obviously wants monopoly on that position).

As well, "He has put his stamp on the party and he has shown he knows where he wants to go and how he wants to get there."

The people who would persuade us to hitch our star to Mr Key's wagon are either hearing things or reading between lines. I've been paying attention and there is no 'getting' to where John Key wants to be. We are already there. Anti-nuclear, soft on welfare, and paternalistic toward Maori.

Indeed Lindsay.

The hard core Nats keep trying to convince me he is making soothing noises towards the left in order to woo "the middle". This will allow National to form a Governement and implement "Nationals policies".

So are they being dishonest and intend to resile from the positions now being staked out? Well if so that don't impress me. Or are they in fact offering an alternative Government with a leftist stripe.

Either way they've lost me.

I guess some people are hoping it is some kind of Trohan Horse deal.

Dear, poor Andrei... you made your bed my friend, now you are going to have to lie in it. You wanted Brash out, don't be surprised at the consequences.

Well, I didn't want Brash out. And now I'm looking at choices between Labour and Labour-Lite. It is shameful how National treated Brash and how Labour was allowed to get away with a smear campaign. It was not the policies of Helen Keys that brought National to the brink of winning from the wilderness.

Hi Lindsay,
Can I take another look at the end of your post?.quote "...there is no 'getting' to where John Key wants to be. We are already there. Anti-nuclear, soft on welfare, and paternalistic toward Maori."

If you put that observation into a John Key work life experience it will make more sense.
Key has worked successfully in a very fast acting, repetitive, punishing environment where ALL consequences fall heavily on the decision maker.
He has watched 'supply and demand'; 'building a cause and getting the result', 'right way:wrong way' ALL with a real consequence and with no where to hide and no one else to take the blame.
He did this following intensive study and a long series considered decisions and when one was wrong made immediate correction and accepted the blame.
Proof is in his career results.
DO YOU KNOW OF EVEN ONE HINT OF CORRUPTION ??
Key knows that you, or rather, the Act Party needs space to the right.
You have got acres of it and more to come.
Key knows the the Welfare fattened NZ'er cannot vote for a change, but they can vote for Key if he makes the process less painful (talking about a generation of Welfare damaged voters here).

I cannot know the future but it would be in very competent hands if Key were involved.
It is blogged elsewhere that '..all politions are dishonest, that goes with the territory'...
I believe MMP has made verbal untruths into "spin" and the voter now EXPECTS THIS. (ask Helen and Heather if you can't believe this).

"...Either way they've lost me..."

So who can you vote for ??
Labour with Welfare and socialist programs.
National with Welfare and socialist 'lite' programs.
NZ First, needs Winston to survive.
United, needs Dunn to survive.
Greens, good if you have environment concerns but nothing for economic progress. (perhaps you could go o'seas and return for holidays).
Act, will support National IF THEY BELIEVE THAT KEY HAS A ROBUST ENDURING BELIEF IN THE "RIGHT OF CENTER"
Don't believe all the casual words spoken, make a point of seeing Key close up and look into his heart.
My wife tells me that women have a particular talent at this.
I don't know but you can always ask yourself "why would a successful already wealthy man with plenty of common sense put himself in his present situation ?????????"

I used to say the same to people about Brash and National dumped him.

Hi Lindsay,

Apples and oranges.

As I said on my blog under Key they are the Anti-Concept Party. All he does is try to copy of all of the other parties in order to beat them (Labour) or get in bed with them (the other parties). Key has yet to come up with up with one idea of his own and is yet to produce a policy out of the ideas he has copied.

You sure got that right.
